STIB

STIB – In the heart of the Capital of Europe

With a ridership of 290 million passengers a year, the STIB is Belgium’s largest urban public transport company. The STIB network serves the Brussels Capital Region via 4 metro lines, 19 tram lines, 50 bus lines, and 11 night bus lines.

Taking action for the environment
The STIB’s involvement in improving the quality of life in the ‘Capital of Europe’ includes initiatives to reduce its impact on the city’s environment. Among other examples, the STIB uses a large proportion of green electricity, introduces eco-drive principles and nearly all of its infrastructures carry the Brussels ‘Eco-dynamic company’ label in acknowledgement of their environmental performance. By 2012, the STIB’s objective is to consume 15% less energy than it did in 2006.
